About The federation

The regional public organization « Shotokan Karate-Do Federation Saint Petersburg » has been created in February, 1999. This year we celebrate our 7 th anniversary.
The p resident of our federation is sensei Konstantin M. Plenkov (Black belt 4 th dan). Sensei Plenkov is also vice-president and chairman of the trainer staff and methodical commission of S.K.I-Russia.

In our federation there are more than 300 athletes and 25 of them have already received their black belts 1 st and 2 nd dan in karate shotokan. Trainings are carried out by master having a high professional level.

« Shotokan Karate-Do Federation-Saint Petersburg » is a member of Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (S.K.I.F.) which is headed by the unique owner in the world of a black belt 10 th dan in karate shotokan kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa. In the federation S.K.I.F. are registered 126 countries of the world which are members of the organization. It means that S.K.I.F. is the largest organization in the world of traditional karate . In Russia the official representative of S.K.I.F. which means the president of S.K.I-Russia is sensei Alexander Ramzin living in Vladivostok .

Since 1999 the most important technical activities of S.K.I-Saint.-Petersburg are supervised by the chief of the trainer staff of the International department of S.K.I.F sensei Manabu Murakami who has been 6 times world champion and 6 times champion of Japan of karate shotokan. On this occasion 2-3 times per year members of our federation have an opportunity to raise their qualification at international technical seminars supervised by great Japanese sensei of karate shotokan like Manabu Murakami (6 th dan ) , Nabuaki Kanazawa (5 th dan ) , Sindsi Tanaka (5 th dan ) , Shiro Asano (9 th dan ) and Masaru Miura(9 th dan ) .

We have friendly relations with S.K.I-Ukraine and S.K.I-Lithuania whose chiefs of trainer staffs are Sergey Denisenko and Alexander Matjushevsky respectively. We use to invite in St-Petersburg our comrades of many Russian cities like Nizhni Novgorod, Perm , Barnaul , Chita , Yakutsk , Novosibirsk , Vladivostok , Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Petropavlovsk - Kamchatka , Rostov-on–Don etc.

Every year our athletes participate at many competitions of different levels.

In our gymnasiums are training many foreign athletes in particular from Georgia , Ukraine , Armenia , Afghanistan and Cameroon .

S.K.I.F is a big amicable family.
